| Beginning Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation (SF Insight) This class explores the basic teachings of the Buddha as expressed in both meditation practice and daily life. We will introduce and refine the core discipline of Mindfulness, and work with the Eightfold Path, a practice map that brings this bright, generous presence to every aspect of our lives. Each class includes guided meditation instruction, talks on basic Buddhist teachings, and time for questions and discussion to explore the application of the teachings and practice into participants' daily life and experience. $50 for room rental plus separate donation for teachers. | Intermediate Mindfulness Meditation A Five-Week Class with Marlena deCarion & Trip Weil This class will offer a deepening exploration of the practice of Insight Meditation. We will explore the Buddha’s teachings on awareness of body, emotions, thoughts, and awareness itself. A strong emphasis will be placed on recognizing and dwelling in the natural awareness that lies at the heart of all experience. This class is intended for those who have an established meditation practice and are looking to deepen their practice in a group context. Each session will include guided meditation instruction, talks on the Buddha’s teachings, and time for questions and dialogue to explore the application of the teachings and practice in the participants’ daily life and experience. People of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome. Winter 2012 Session
About the Teachers Marlena deCarion, CPCC, PCC has been practicing meditation since 1995. She is a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioners Program and is currently being trained by Spirit Rock as a Community Dharma Leader. She has studied in the Theravada Buddhist lineage and is influenced by Tibetan and non-dual practices. Marlena has trained in Somatic Experiencing and is a student of the Diamond Approach. Trip Weil has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 2004. He is a participant in the Community Dharma Leader Program at Spirit Rock and a past participant in Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioners Program. Formerly an attorney, Trip is a psychotherapist in private practice in San Francisco. ************************************************************************************************* Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation Daylong (Sat., March 24) With Marlena deCarion & Trip Weil This daylong is part of the five-week Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation class starting on February 27. The cost for this one-day retreat is included as part of the class. If you are not taking the whole class, you may still attend this one-day retreat. This class is appropriate for those new to meditation or those wishing to deepen their existing practice. People of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome. · When: Saturday, March 24, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Teacher Dana: The teachers are supported solely by your donations for their time and teachings (they do not receive any portion of the registration fee).
